Colima

Command-line tool that runs Docker and other container runtimes in a Linux VM on macOS.

Recommended as an open-source, command-line replacement for Docker Desktop on macOS1234 that installs easily via Homebrew and runs better with Apple's virtualization framework than with QEMU.567 Caveats include no GUI, a default $HOME mount that had to be turned off for isolation, and the faster virtualization backend not being the default891011; one commenter calls Apple's container framework an improvement over it.12
